Another trip to the Enchanted Forest

We live near a small airport that has a Warbird Museum.
We see lots of different planes flying over the house.
We have had a very cool winter, which is unusual for us.
Todd and I took Bear out to the Enchanted Forest, again.

There is a lot of Coquina rock around where we live.

Will this be the LAST night launch?

Last week, we watched the 'last' night shuttle launch.
It is always a pretty sight to see.
This launch was a little noisier.
The windows in the houses and cars rattled,
and we could hear the crowds along the river cheering.
It lit up the night sky. (4am)

It is hard to believe that there are only 4 more
shuttle flights to go.
It is such a pretty sight in person!

Latest Cross Stitching project

I really enjoy cross stitching. These pillows were for baby shower gifts for a couple of ladies at church.

This one was for "Landon" who was born last week.

This one is for "Riley".
She isn't due until April, but my mom and I will attend a
baby shower for her tomorrow.
I am working on a sampler for each baby with their 'stats' on it.
Landon's is almost done!
I am looking forward to meeting Landon...maybe tomorrow! :)

Daytona Beach

Last Sunday, 40 or so people from our church went to pass out tracts to the people that attended the Daytona 500. If I compare football fans to race fans, the race fans are more receptive to taking a Gospel tract than the foot ball fans are.

On the bus heading to Daytona Beach
The traffic was very slow moving. My brother, Todd (middle one),
got off with a couple other men and walked several miles carrying signs.
They figured they might as well make good use of the cool weather and
the abundace of people moving slowly on the highway.
The crosswalk to the speedway in Daytona Beach
The back of the grandstands.
Lots and Lots of people attend the race.
Jesus....
That is what man needs most...even if he doesn't realize it!

Keeping busy

Todd and I are back in school. We have our first test on Thursday, and then those tests just keep coming. But before starting back to school.... I have....
had some really good apples....
....gone to Miami....

....saw what might just be the last night
shuttle launch....

....from our driveway at 4:14am...
This one was loud.
The windows in the houses and cars shook.
I had my hair cut!
Mom and I are very happy that Nikki is back on her feet.
She crushed her ankle in a car accident the first part of December.
She called my mom one day to say she was back at work (her first day)
We went to see her, and get our haircut.
It felt GOOD.

Lawn work still happens in January in Florida.
Todd had taken on a big landscaping job.
He didn't have a lot of mowing, so this job kept him busy.
(and me)

I kept busy during the break from school by doing some reading (for pleasure),
cross stitching Baby Sleeping pillows for shower gifts, cross stitching
some 'samplers' for these babies (I have to wait on the 'stats' to finish them), shopped with mom (not something I get to do too much of sometimes).
Now, I am back to studying! I enjoy that.

On the street in Miami

The Saturday before the Super Bowl, Todd and I went with some from our church to Miami to give out tracts. This was our first trip to Miami. The skyline.
There were lots of people on the streets.

Andrea took a position across the street from me.
Tide had a big promotional thing going on.

Todd on this side, and Dan on the other side of the street.
Tide had a clothesline going down the street.
There were a LOT of people out and about.
We had a good time while we were there.
We had good fellowship on the ride to and from Miami.

Going out on the street

One afternoon during Bible Conference, a lot of us went downtown DeLand to
pass out tracts, hold signs, and some of the guys did some street preaching.

Todd is waving.

My brothers, Todd and Bear, and my dad.

Billy and one of the visiting preachers got us singing on the corner.

Bible Conference 2010

The 3rd week of January, our church has a Bible Conference. The topic this year
was The Body of Jesus. You can find all of the messages at http://www.jamesknox.com/
Here are five of the six preachers.
I know there are six in the pic, but one is our pastor.
Todd

The children had a really good time.

Some of the younger men at our church singing.

One of the visiting preachers gave Bro James
a gift he has always wanted....
An Obama collectors plate.
That got a lot of laughter from everyone there.

Ice Skating

One afternoon during Bible Conference, the church group went Ice Skating in Daytona Beach. This was my first time. It was also the first time on ice skates for my dad and my brothers. My mom has ice skated before, but she stayed off the ice since she had recent surgery.

Mom said that I was all smiles.
I enjoyed ice skating.
Well, maybe not the 2 falls I made to the ice,
but overall, I enjoyed it.
Ah, here is my ice embellished jumper.
Todd and my dad are behind me.

Mom caught my dad's only spill on the ice.
He wasn't hurt. We all agree the ice is hard when you fall.

Dad was up and skating again.

One of the young girls from church skating.

Dad concentrating.
He grew up in Indiana, but had never been ice skating.
Mom talked him into trying it.
He said it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be.
And he didn't break any bones. :)

I am still smiling

Still smiling

and still smiling

My brother, Todd, was not overly thrilled about
ice skating. Mom told him he needed to try it at least once.
And this was his opportunity.
He was smiling, too!
It wasn't nearly as bad as he thought it would be.
Maybe that had something to do with the lady offering him
HOCKEY STYLE SKATES
instead of the
"FIGURE SKATES"???

Bear needed his sister's help to get his skates on.
There are not any pics of Bear skating.
He didn't enjoy at all.
After making it half way around the rink,
he opted to watch.
I don't know if the boys will skate again,
but I would skate again....and hopefully not fall.
:)
