Tuesday Thoughts

I am learning to drive. In our family, we wait until we are 18 to get our driver's permit. This has worked out very nicely. I have my permit. I was so happy to get my permit, it provided me with a nice picture of myself to go in my wallet. I can also buy spray paint, and tylenol cold medicine should I need it. (smiling)

I have had some driving adventures. My mom is my teacher. I am a 'leadfoot' driver. But, now that I have taken my shoes off to drive, I can feel the pedal better. (my mom suggested this, she drives that way) I also have a problem braking and turning. I don't brake soon enough, or I hit the brakes too hard, and I make wide angle turns.

My dad's car has a Tach along with the speedometer. I did not know the difference for a while. My mom kept telling me to slow down in the parking lots, but the car never even went up to the 3. That is when my mom realized that I was not looking at the speedometer, but the tachometer. I have since corrected that slight oversight on my part. (giggling).

My mom's car has a performance motor in it. The car goes 30 mph without ever touching the gas pedal. She took me to the local airport one day to give me some practice in her car. With the car still in park, she told me to press as hard as I could on the brake pedal. She was quite shaken, literally, when the car began to quiver, shake and shift to one side. I had to learn exactly which pedal is the gas pedal, and which is the brake. I now know this. My dad wasn't thrilled to know that I floored the gas pedal in my mom's car... no one has ever been allowed to do that. I was the first, and probably the last. (sighing)

Once I got over that, mom told me to get driving. We went along a back road that was curvy, I passed an 18 wheeler, I had no problems. The next road was a 4 laned highway. I decided (well sort of) that mom really should try 'off road' riding, while I would do the 'off road' driving. It seems I got too close to the edge of the road, and it dipped off rather abruptly. I got back on the road, only to go back off the road, miss a metal sign, while keeping my foot firmly on the gas pedal. My mom is quite calm. No, really my mom is quite calm. She made me drive another three miles to Target. I was sooooooooooooo glad to get to Target, and out of the car.

I have driven my brother's car. I have a little trouble with his touchy brakes. But, I haven't been invited to drive his truck, yet. What about that house rule "When we have something nice to share, we share it??" Oh, I guess I do get to ride in the truck.

I am thinking I will keep my permit until its expiration date of 8/2014 :)

2 Kings 9:20
And the watchman told, saying, He came even unto them, and cometh not again: and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi: for he driveth furiously.

Monday Hymn

REDEEMED
Fanny Crosby
Psalm 107:2
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so,
whom he hath redeemed
from the hand of the enemy.
Redeemed, how I love to proclaimit!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child and forever I am.
Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blodd of the Lamb;
Redeemed, Redeemed
His child and forever I am.
Redeemed, and so happy in Jesus,
No language my rapture can tell;
I know that the light of his presence
With me doth continually dwell.
Redeemed, Redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.
I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long:
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.
Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.
I know I shall see in His beauty
The King in whose law I delight;
Who lovingly guardeth my footsteps,
And giveth me songs in the night.
Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed. redeemed.
His child and forever I am.
I know there's a crown that is waiting,
In yonder bright mansion for me,
And soon, with the spirits made perfect,
At home with the Lord I shall be.
Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.
This is one of my favorite hymns. I really like the part, "Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb". It was the blood of Jesus that was shed to redeem me. I also like the part, "His child and forever I am." Because I have accepted Christ as my Savior, recognizing that it was His shed blood at Calvary that paid for my sins, I am a child of God forever. I know that I am FOREVER HIS!

Saturday's March for Jesus

Today was MARCH for JESUS.

Some of those that 'marched'.

My dad waiting his turn to start walking.
We were to try and keep some distance
between each walker.
Bear and mom walked together.

Mom caught Todd and I waiting at an intersection.
On the left you can see all the 'walkers'
following down the sidewalk.

It was a very nice day. It wasn't too hot,
and we had a breeze.
There were plenty of cars.
People would honk and wave,
and some would give us the thumbs up.
Only a few people tried to be discouraging.
Some uttered, "FOOLS"
But the BIBLE tells us in Psalm 14:1
The fool hath said in his heart,
There is no God....

Monday Hymn

WONDERFUL PEACE
Warren D. Cornell
August 1889
(one hundred years before my birth)

Far away in the depths of my spirit tonight
Rolls a melody sweeter than psalm;
In celestial strains it unceasingly falls
O’er my soul like an infinite calm.

Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray
In fathomless billows of love!

What a treasure I have in this wonderful peace,
Buried deep in the heart of my soul,
So secure that no power can mine it away,
While the years of eternity roll!

Peace, peace, wonderful peace
,Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray
In fathomless billows of love!

I am resting tonight in this wonderful peace,
Resting sweetly in Jesus’ control;
For I’m kept from all danger by night and by day,
And His glory is flooding my soul!

Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever,I pray
In fathomless billows of love!

And I think when I rise to that city of peace,
Where the Anchor of peace I shall see,
That one strain of the song which the ransomed will sing
In that heavenly kingdom will be:

Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray
In fathomless billows of love!

Ah, soul! are you here without comfort and rest,
Marching down the rough pathway of time?
Make Jesus your Friend ere the shadows dark;
O accept of this peace so sublime!
Peace, Peace, wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray
In fathomless billows of love!
Isaiah 26:3
Thou wilt keep him in pefect peace,
whose mind is stayed on thee;
because he trusteth in thee.
When we trust God and have our minds stayed on Him, He will provide us with a perfect peace. When I hear or sing this hymn it remindes me of God's perfect and wonderful peace.

Thursday Treats

One of my favorite treats is BBQ CUPS. My mom often makes them for my dad to take out for his crew at work. Last night, she made them for a LIFTOFF Party, except the shuttle did not lift off. So they had a Launchless Liftoff Party. ;)
On Tuesday, Todd and I took some to school. We really enjoy them.
They are really pretty simple to make. We use a pork loin roast, because it is leaner. We cook it over night in a crock pot, and then in the morning I shred it and put Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce on, and mix it all up and then let it cook on low in the crock pot for a bit.
We use canned biscuits for the dough. (sometimes we have used crescent rolls) Roll out each biscuit, and then put it down in a muffin pan, then top it with the BBQ, and let them bake at 375º for about 11-12 minutes.
They are one of my favorite fast treats to make!

Tuesday's Thoughts

Next Saturday, we are going to MARCH for JESUS with THE BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH in DeLand. They do this several times a year. They pick a route, everyone wears a red JESUS SAVES shirt, you carry a sign with a verse on it, and walk (MARCH) for Jesus. My Dad and Bear got their shirts on Sunday Night. Mom
took picture of them this morning when they tried their shirts on. Red is not a color my Dad wears too much, but for this RED is in!

Hebrews 7:25
Wherefore he (Jesus) is able also
to save them to the uttermost
that come unto God by him (Jesus),
seeing he (Jesus) ever liveth
to make intercession for them.

Monday Hymn

WHEN WE SEE CHRIST
by
ESTHER KERR RUSTHOI

Oft time the day seems long, our trials hard to bear,
We're tempted to complain, to murmur and despair;
But Christ will soon appear to catch His Bride away,
All tears forever over in God's eternal Day.
It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race till we see Christ.
Sometimes the sky looks dark with not a ray of light,
We're tossed and driven on, no human help in sight;
But there is one in heav'n who knows our deepest care,
Let Jesus solve your problems--just go to Him in pray'r.
It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race till we see Christ.
Life's day will soon be o'er, all storms forever past,
We'll cross the great divide, to glory, safe at last;
We'll share the joys of heav'n - a harp a home a crown,
The tempter will be banished, we'll lay our burden down.
It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race till we see Christ.
I thought about how short this life we live is. We are surrounded by trials, discomforts, and pain as we walk the road of life. When we have Jesus as our Saviour, we have the comfort knowing that when we finally see JESUS.. we will truly know it had been worth it all.

Tuesday's Thoughts

In my sparest of spare moments, I like to write poetry.
For Christmas, I 'published' a book of my poems for my mom. :)

I was thinking about some of the 'great words' that are
recorded of the early American Patriots, and the words of
Nathan Hale reminded me of God and how He asks for my
life to serve Him.

Here is a poem I wrote:

ONE LIFE

The words of a patriot resound in my ears,
And the actions of a Saviour bring tears.

Nathan Hale loved his country with a passion
And the last words that he spoke were to this fashion:

"I regret that I have but one life to lose for my country."
Hale gave his life for Country, when he hung on a tree.

There is one, though, who gave His life for much more than country.
One who was born to die, to save men's soul's on Calvary.

Jesus Christ shed His blood for sinners on a tree,
Was laid in a tomb, but rose again after three days for you & me.

Hale's words can cause me to remember the freedom I prize.
But his famous phrase I am going to revise.

"I regret that I have but one life to live for my Lord Jesus Christ."
I love my country dearly, but for my GOD would I give my life.

Monday Hymn

"His Way with Thee"
Words & Music:
Cyrus S. Nusbaum, 1898

Would you live for Jesus, and be always pure and good?

Would you walk with Him within the narrow road?

Would you have Him bear your burden, carry all your load?
Let Him have His way with thee.

His power can make you what you ought to be;
His blood can cleanse your heart and make you free;
His love can fill your soul, and you will see
’Twas best for Him to have His way with thee.

Would you have Him make you free, and follow at His call?
Would you know the peace that comes by giving all?
Would you have Him save you, so that you can never fall?
Let Him have His way with thee.
His power can make you what you ought to be;
His blood can cleanse your heart and make you free;
His love can fill your soul, and you will see
’Twas best for Him to have His way with thee.

Would you in His kingdom find a place of constant rest?
Would you prove Him true in providential test?
Would you in His service labor always at your best?
Let Him have His way with thee.
His power can make you what you ought to be;
His blood can cleanse your heart and make you free;
His love can fill your soul, and you will see
’Twas best for Him to have His way with thee.

I really like this song. Sometimes, I think that it is easiest to do things MY way. But, then I find that I am very wrong. It is ALWAYS best for GOD to have His way in my life. It is Always PERFECT!
