First Day of GOING to school

Todd and I have never 'been' to school.
We have been homeschooled all of our lives.
We enjoyed our first day (evening),
and look forward to all the other days!

Monday Hymns

CALVARY COVERS IT ALL
Far dearer than all
that the world can impart
Was the message came to my heart.
How that Jesus alone
for my sin did atone,
And Calvary covers it all.

Chorus
Calvary covers it all,
My past with its sin and stain;
My guilt and despair
Jesus took on Him there,
And Calvary covers it all.

The stripes that He bore
and the thorns that He wore
Told His mercy and love evermore
And my heart bowed in shame
as I called on His name,
And Calvary covers it all.

Chorus
Calvary covers it all,
My past with its sin and stain;
My guilt and despair
Jesus took on Him there,
And Calvary covers it all.

How matchless the grace,
when I looked in the face
Of this Jesus, my crucified Lord;
My redemption complete
I then found at His feet,
And Calvary covers it all.

Chorus
Calvary covers it all,
My past with its sin and stain;
My guilt and despair
Jesus took on Him there,
And Calvary covers it all.

How blessed the thought,
that my soul by Him bought,
Shall be His in the glory on high;
Where with gladness and song,
I'll be one of the throng
And Calvary covers it all.

Chorus
Calvary covers it all,
My past with its sin and stain;
My guilt and despair
Jesus took on Him there,
And Calvary covers it all.

I like this hymn because it reminds me that my sin separated me from GOD. But God, in His love for me, provided a way for my sins to be paid at Calvary, through His Son, JESUS.

A verse

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God
is quick, and powerful,
and sharper than any two edged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder
of soul and spirit,
and of the joints
and marrow,
and is a discerner
of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Saturday's Thoughts

The theme of the Bible Conference was 1 Thessalonians. There were 9 different preachers, and each were given a portion of the book of 1 Thessalonians to preach from. We started at Chapter 1 verse 1, and ended at chapter 5 verse 28.

The last preacher to preach is a missionary to Romania. This man has been to the city of Thessalonica in Greece, and when he and a fellow preacher were there, they noticed that there are no New Testament Churches or missionaires. That bothered him because there are people who study the Bible in Greek, but no one, as far as he knows, is taking the Word of God to those in Thessalonica. That is one of the things I learned, and it was really sad to my heart.

One Preacher made an interesting remark, "If God doesn't have the power to direct my life, then how could He save me?" We have faith and believe the LORD will save us, but we doubt He can lead and guide us.

1Thessalonians 5:22 says, "Abstain from all appearance of evil." I think about this verse often, but I usually forget it has 2 meanings. The preacher said it is sort of like this, we should abstain from doing things that could appear evil, but also to abstain from evil when it appears to us.

I cannot remember who said this, but I thought it was interesting." We should be looking for the LORD to speak to us all the time, not just at special meetings." It is easy to just sit Sunday after Sunday and not really listen, but anytime that God's Word is read we can get something from it. But then to go to special meetings to be excited when we should be excited everytime we hear or read the World of God.

There was so much preached that spoke to me, I don't have to write them all out. These are just some of the ones that really spoke to my heart.

It was a good week. I really enjoyed both evening and morning sessions.

Friday Photos

Thursday was the last day of Bible Conference.
These pics are of the pastors that were there singing.
They really sang out.

The singing at Bible conference was amazing,
and so was the preaching.

My mother took this Thursday morning when we got in the car.
The outside Temp was 33.
I know that might not mean much to some that live in the north,
but to us in Florida,
that is pretty cold for us!

Tuesday Thoughts

This was the view from our seats.

Bear and me!

Last night, was the first night of the Bible Conference. One thing that struck me was the singing. My dad wasn't able to come last night, he had to go into work, so my mother called him during the singing of IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL, so that he could hear it!

The building was packed, people everywhere, and when we sang it was loud as though the ceiling would pop off. My mother, Bear and I ended up on the front row. We normally sit up front, so we were quite happy. Todd ended up behind us. It was a good night of preaching. I look forward to more of it! :)

Monday happenings

This week, my family and I are attending a Bible Conference at THE BIBLE Baptist Church in DeLand, Florida. This is the church where my brother, Todd, and I will attend Bible Institute.

The theme of the Bible Conference is the entire book of 1 Thessalonians. We are really looking forward to this! It should be a really good week.

Monday Hymns

Yesterday, we had a missionary at church. We were only there for the morning service, because we went to the church where we will be attending Bible Institute on Sunday evening. Danny and Janice Flowers and their children presented their work to the IVORY COAST.

I enjoy hearing missionaries, because I like to hear about their fields they work on. And about how GOD works through them, using them to bring the GOSPEL to those people on that particular field.

One of my favorite missions type songs is:

SEND THE LIGHT
There’s a call comes ringing over the restless wave,
“Send the light! Send the light!”
There are souls to rescue there are souls to save,
Send the light! Send the light!

Refrain
Send the light, the blessèd Gospel light;
Let it shine from shore to shore!
Send the light, the blessèd Gospel light;
Let it shine forevermore!

We have heard the Macedonian call today,
“Send the light! Send the light!”
And a golden offering at the cross we lay,
Send the light! Send the light!

Refrain

Let us pray that grace may everywhere abound,
“Send the light! Send the light!”
And a Christlike spirit everywhere be found,
Send the light! Send the light!

Refrain

Let us not grow weary in the work of love,
“Send the light! Send the light!”
Let us gather jewels for a crown above,
Send the light! Send the light!

Refrain
by Charles H Gabriel 1890

Psalm 43:3
"O send out thy light and thy truth:
let them lead me;
let them bring me unto thy holy hill,
and to thy tabernacles."

Todd and I finished up working yesterday in time to pick up our little brother and take him to the ENCHANTED FOREST. It was a cool Florida winter kind of day, and we like to walk the trails at the Enchanted Forest. At one point, Bear flopped down in the sand and started to make
a SAND ANGEL. Bear has never seen snow in person. He says he would like to, but Bear doesn't like to be cold. Here is a picture of Bear making his Snow Angel.

What do you think about that? Even in Florida we know how to make angels!!

Thursday Treats

Last month, we baked a lot of cookies and other treats. One treat I made a lot of was "Muddy Buddies" or "People Chow". When we were delivering my mother and I were asked the recipe several times. I had made so much of it, that I could recite the recipe with no problem. :) People really enjoy it, and I enjoy making it. My mother and I laughed that we needed one of those mini cement mixers to help us mix it all up.

Here is the recipe we use, except that we double it when we make it:

Muddy Buddies

9 c. of any Chex cereal
1 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/4 c. butter
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar

Pour cereal into large bowl and set aside.

Combine chips, peanut butter and butter in 1 quart microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave on high 1 to 1 1/2 minutes until smooth, stirring after 1 minute.
Stir in vanilla.
Pour chocolate mixture over cereal.
Stirring until all pieces are evenly coated.
Then pour cereal mixture into large bowl,
sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Shake until all pieces are well coated.
Store in sealed container.

I splurged!

For people who know me in person, I am not one that spends money easily. I like to get a really good deal, or I will just do without, or make do with what I already have. My mother sometimes says I am "cheap". I wonder where I get it from? :)

After Christmas, I had a gift certificate, and coupon, and cash. We went shopping at SHEPLER's Western outfitters over in Orlando. I tried on many boots, but nothing was jumping out at me. My mother then showed me a purse. She knew it was me when she showed me. I knew it was me also. My mother knew the price tag would scare me. But once I realized I had a gift certificate, and a 33% off one item coupon, I decided to splurge on myself. I love this purse. It truly is my personality. I expect to have it for many, many years! (and my mother was right, she knows me inside and out!)

Now, my mother needs to make me a new western outfit to go with my purse and my new jacket from my aunt! My mother is already working on plans for this outfit. She keeps me well dressed! I am thankful for that.

New Year and New Adventures

The end of this month, Todd and I will begin a 3 year Bible Institute. We will still live at home, but we will go to school about an hour and a half north of our home. We are looking forward to this new adventure. I am probably looking forward to it more than Todd is. Todd will have to keep his business going while studying and attending classes. We know this will be a challenge for both of us, but it will also be rewarding. Todd and I really love learning from GOD's Word, and this opportunity has been a huge blessing in our lives at this time.

Here are the classes I will be taking:

The FOUR GOSPELS
A SURE FOUNDATION
ISAIAH

Todd will take those and add:

PREPARATION and DELIVERY OF SERMONS

I will not take that one for obvious reasons..LOL

There are several adjustments for our household. My mother will have to learn to load a dishwasher (smiling). I will have to learn to stay awake past 9 pm. I like to go to bed early, and I get up early. We will attend classes from 6 -9 pm. We will probably not be home until nearly 11pm. I hope Todd can stay awake driving. I know I will have to stay awake to make sure he stays awake! I am really looking forward to this!! I am excited to see how GOD will use this in my life for HIS glory.

Hymn of the Week January 12, 2009

I thought I would start sharing some of my favorite Hymns, and what I really like about them. The first one is, "I Could not Do without Thee" by Frances R. Havergal. I like this hymn because the message really speaks to my heart. It reminds me that my Saviour is always there to lead and guide me, even when I do not understand things.
I COULD NOT DO WITHOUT THEE
I could not do without Thee
O Savior of the lost,
Whose precious blood redeemed me
At such tremendous cost.
Thy righteousness, thy pardon
Thy precious blood, must be
My only hope and comfort,
My glory and my plea.

I could not do without Thee,

I cannot stand alone,

I have no strength or goodness,

No wisdom of my own;

But Thou, beloved Savior,

Art all in all to me,

And weakness will be power

If leaning hard on Thee.

I could not do without Thee,
For, oh, the way is long,
And I am often weary,
And sigh replaces song:
How could I do without Thee?
I do not know the way;
Thou knowest, and Thou leadest,
And wilt not let me stray.

I could not do without Thee,
O Jesus, Savior dear;
E’en when my eyes are holden,
I know that Thou art near.
How dreary and how lonely
This changeful life would be,
Without the sweet communion,
The secret rest with Thee!

I could not do without Thee;
No other friend can read
The spirit’s strange deep longings,
Interpreting its need;
No human heart could enter
Each dim recess of mine,
And soothe, and hush, and calm it,
O blessèd Lord, but Thine.

I could not do without Thee,
For years are fleeting fast,
And soon in solemn oneness
The river must be passed;
But Thou wilt never leave me,
And though the waves roll high,
I know Thou wilt be near me,
And whisper, “It is I.”

By FRANCES R. HAVERGAL
1873
John 6:20
"But he saith unto them,
It is I;
be not afraid."
