Ares 1-X

My mom grew up on the very street that we live on. We are able to watch shuttle launches from our front yard. Sometimes, we go in the back yard to view the rockets that are launched from the Cape Canaveral Air Station because those launch pads are further south of us. My mom's dad worked for NASA for many years, she has seen many launches. She has told us how windows in their house would rattle when the Saturn V rockets launched the Apollo capsules into space. The shuttle program is winding down, there are just a few more launches left.

Today was the first time the ARES 1-X rocket was test fired. My dad was excited, it involves his work.

The Ares from our front yard.
The shuttle moves slowing in the sky,
but the Ares moved much quicker.

Always a good feeling here when a launch is successful!

I wondered if you would post about this. : ) Our family all gathered around mom's laptop today and watched the live video stream. Incredible!

Hi Marie!
I was wondering about you and how your fall has been.

My mom has told us how her dad would get them up in the middle of the night to watch even satellites go up because he didn't want them to miss any of the space launches. Mom and dad have been the same with us. There are not many launches we have missed since I was born. I remember 1 that we were in church on a Wednesday night when it lifted off. (priorities were kept right)

I find it interesting that the space program always proves GOD and the BIBLE right.

Hope you are doing good!

Aimée
