Tuesday's Thoughts

In my sparest of spare moments, I like to write poetry.
For Christmas, I 'published' a book of my poems for my mom. :)

I was thinking about some of the 'great words' that are
recorded of the early American Patriots, and the words of
Nathan Hale reminded me of God and how He asks for my
life to serve Him.

Here is a poem I wrote:

ONE LIFE

The words of a patriot resound in my ears,
And the actions of a Saviour bring tears.

Nathan Hale loved his country with a passion
And the last words that he spoke were to this fashion:

"I regret that I have but one life to lose for my country."
Hale gave his life for Country, when he hung on a tree.

There is one, though, who gave His life for much more than country.
One who was born to die, to save men's soul's on Calvary.

Jesus Christ shed His blood for sinners on a tree,
Was laid in a tomb, but rose again after three days for you & me.

Hale's words can cause me to remember the freedom I prize.
But his famous phrase I am going to revise.

"I regret that I have but one life to live for my Lord Jesus Christ."
I love my country dearly, but for my GOD would I give my life.

Monday Hymn

"His Way with Thee"
Words & Music:
Cyrus S. Nusbaum, 1898

Would you live for Jesus, and be always pure and good?

Would you walk with Him within the narrow road?

Would you have Him bear your burden, carry all your load?
Let Him have His way with thee.

His power can make you what you ought to be;
His blood can cleanse your heart and make you free;
His love can fill your soul, and you will see
’Twas best for Him to have His way with thee.

Would you have Him make you free, and follow at His call?
Would you know the peace that comes by giving all?
Would you have Him save you, so that you can never fall?
Let Him have His way with thee.
His power can make you what you ought to be;
His blood can cleanse your heart and make you free;
His love can fill your soul, and you will see
’Twas best for Him to have His way with thee.

Would you in His kingdom find a place of constant rest?
Would you prove Him true in providential test?
Would you in His service labor always at your best?
Let Him have His way with thee.
His power can make you what you ought to be;
His blood can cleanse your heart and make you free;
His love can fill your soul, and you will see
’Twas best for Him to have His way with thee.

I really like this song. Sometimes, I think that it is easiest to do things MY way. But, then I find that I am very wrong. It is ALWAYS best for GOD to have His way in my life. It is Always PERFECT!

Friday Photos

Todd and I had this week off from school. We have used the time to catch up with a few things, and to have a little fun. Yesterday, my mom needed to go to Cocoa Beach to pick up a new pair of shoes. We decided to have lunch out, and head over to JETTY PARK at Cape Canaveral for a little fun in the sun.

The water was a little cool, it is February. The beach was only crowded with birds and a few jelly fish that were washing up. We were able to see a couple of the curise ships leave the port, and spy some dolphins that played and jumped in the water.

Here are a few pics my mom took yesterday: (my top pic is from yesterday, also)

The Carnival SENSATION in the background.
Mom loves to have her feet in the sand and surf.

We Three Kids in front of the DISNEY "WONDER"
When this ship leaves the port you hear the song,
"When you Wish Upon a Star"

What is my brother thinking?? :)
Todd has a knack for having his pics turn out goofy,
this is one of the better ones from yesterday.

I found another shell.
On the back of the Disney ship,
you can see Donald and one of his nephews
painting.

Monday Hymns

THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD
(Lewis E. Jones, 1899)

Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide;
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow.
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
It is through the blood of Jesus we are saved from our sins, that is amazing POWER in the BLOOD! What a wonderful thing that is.

Sunday Picture

This is a picture from last Sunday. Todd took it with his phone, and finally got it
sent to mom's computer. My young friend is shielding herself from a little drizzle that we got. She was a blessing to have with me last week!

Psalm 118:14
The Lord is my strength and my song,
and is become my salvation.

Thursday Treats

Cookies are my mom's favorite thing to bake. We give treats to our trashmen 2 times a week, and it is usually cookies. We bake a lot of cookies in December, too. Here is a recipe that is quick and easy to do when time is short. We get a lot of compliments on these cookies, and there is no limit to the different ways or kinds you can make.

CAKE MIX COOKIES

1 package cake mix
1/2 cup better or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs

add:
1 cup of chocolate chips or
1 cups of raisins or
1 cup of raspberry chips or
1 cup of cinnamon chips
or... nuts or whatever.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Beat the butter and vanilla, adding the eggs; add in the cake mix.
Mix together until smooth.
Stir in chips or raisins or nuts.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls on to an ungrease cookie sheet.
Bake 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set.
Cool 1 minute; remove to wire rack.
Makes about 5 dozen cookies.

Some combinations we have made are:

Strawberry cake mix with Dark chocolate chips
Spice cake mix with Raisins and cinnamon chips
Orange cake mix with milk chocolate chips
Devils food cake mix with semisweet chocolate chips
French vanilla cake mix with raspberry chips
Butter recipe cake mix with semisweet chocolate chips

and so on!
