Saturday's Thoughts

The theme of the Bible Conference was 1 Thessalonians. There were 9 different preachers, and each were given a portion of the book of 1 Thessalonians to preach from. We started at Chapter 1 verse 1, and ended at chapter 5 verse 28.

The last preacher to preach is a missionary to Romania. This man has been to the city of Thessalonica in Greece, and when he and a fellow preacher were there, they noticed that there are no New Testament Churches or missionaires. That bothered him because there are people who study the Bible in Greek, but no one, as far as he knows, is taking the Word of God to those in Thessalonica. That is one of the things I learned, and it was really sad to my heart.

One Preacher made an interesting remark, "If God doesn't have the power to direct my life, then how could He save me?" We have faith and believe the LORD will save us, but we doubt He can lead and guide us.

1Thessalonians 5:22 says, "Abstain from all appearance of evil." I think about this verse often, but I usually forget it has 2 meanings. The preacher said it is sort of like this, we should abstain from doing things that could appear evil, but also to abstain from evil when it appears to us.

I cannot remember who said this, but I thought it was interesting." We should be looking for the LORD to speak to us all the time, not just at special meetings." It is easy to just sit Sunday after Sunday and not really listen, but anytime that God's Word is read we can get something from it. But then to go to special meetings to be excited when we should be excited everytime we hear or read the World of God.

There was so much preached that spoke to me, I don't have to write them all out. These are just some of the ones that really spoke to my heart.

It was a good week. I really enjoyed both evening and morning sessions.

I quote this verse so much especially to the boys...over the last couple years, and I have lived the fact that i should stay away from evil as it comes to me, but never put the two together. It makes it easier and "cooler" to remember it together using I Thes 5:22 as the base verse. I will use this while teaching the boys and reminding myself to "stay away from ALL appearances of evil." Thank you AIMEE. God is good!
